DESCRIPTION:Film screening organized by the Maplewood Film Society. The Map
 lewood Film Society is proud to partner with the Maplewood Library for thi
 s special event. As part of the 2026 Maplewood Ideas Festival\, we will be
  showing an exclusive Maplewood screening of the award-winning documentary
 \, The Librarians. The film will be followed by a discussion about the fil
 m and the wave of alarming book bannings sweeping our nation\, featuring l
 ibrarian Martha Hickson and a local author.\n\nLibrarians emerge as first 
 responders in the fight for democracy and our First Amendment Rights. As t
 hey well know\, controlling the flow of ideas means control over communiti
 es. In Texas\, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQ
 ia+ stories -- triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprece
 dented rate. As tensions escalate\, librarians connect the dots from heate
 d school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnin
